Salina Parks and Rec has a long-standing rule that to play baseball or softball you had to turn 8 by May 1. Kay will turn 8 on May 2. See my problem... Instead of waiting until April to fight this, I started early. I have been exchanging e-mails with the Director -- He has been insisting that the rule was the rule and I would have to have a birth certificate to get her on a team this year. My position was that these kids are her peers and just because she was born on May 2 she should not be excluded. We had a face-to-face meeting this morning. To make a very long story short, the rule was changed based on my arguement. The new age rules are posted here: CLICK ME. You can see that they just added the words "or 2nd Grade" after the date "May 1, 2001".
It pays to be nice and explain the error of someone's ways.

Way to go, You're the Man!! You'll have to save that piece of paper for Kaylee's scrapbook and show her when she's older and can understand a little better what her Dad did for her when she was 8!!!
